There are some specific places of Shakti Sadhana in India which are known as Shaktipeeth. According to mythology, because of not inviting and insulting Lord Shankar in the Yajna of Daksha Prajapati, Bhagwati Sati sacrificed her Yagya by abandoning her body in the fire of Yajna. Ghostly Lord Shiva always became angry and started traveling in the earth while performing a Tandava dance with Sati's body on his shoulder. At the same time, at the request of the gods, Lord Vishnu split the various organs of Sati with his Sudarshan Chakra, one by one. These Chinmaya organs of Devi fell at 51 places which became 51 Siddha Shaktipeeth.

There is no idol of Goddess in Shaktipeeth

These Shaktipeeths are located in different parts of the holy land of India, whose philosophy, worship are fulfilled by various wishes. There is one such Shaktipeeth, which is called Maha Shaktipeeth - 'Temple of Kamakhya Devi'. This temple is built on a hill in Guwahati, Assam state.

This temple is slightly different from other Shaktipeeths as this place is also very famous for tantra cultivation. There is no Goddess idol  in this temple. Here the vaginal part of Mother Sati was dropped, so here only the vaginal part of the Goddess is worshiped, which sits in the form of a rock. Here Nilaprastramy Vagina Mata Kamakhya resides. Those who worship, see and touch this rock, receive the blessings of Goddess Bhagwati with grace and salvation.

In this Shaktipeeth, the Mother Goddess is enthroned with 64 yogis and ten Mahavidyas. Bhuvaneshwari, Bagla, Chinnan Mastika, Kali, Tara, Matangi, Kamala, Saraswati, Dhumavati and Bhairavi occupy the same place. Although all Shaktipeeths have their own importance, but Kamakhya Shaktipeeth is considered the best among all others.  Then Lord Vishnu left his Sudarshan Chakra to calm his anger and cut the body of Sati into pieces. At that time, where the Sati's vagina and womb came and fell, today the Kamakhya Temple is located at that place.

Let us know the mythological story of Mother Kamakhya Devi

The mythological truth is that during the Ambuvachi festival the mother Bhagwati is menstruating and blood flows from the place of water flow from Mahamudra (vagina-tirtha) in the womb of mother Bhagwati for three consecutive days.

Narakasur fascinated by the beauty of Kamakhya

It is a matter of ancient times that once a demon named Narakasura was fascinated by the beauty of Goddess Kamakhya, he started loving her, and then he wanted to marry mother Kamakhya Devi. But Goddess Kamakhya placed a condition before Narakasura to get rid of her. Devi told Narakasura that if she would be able to build stairs from Nilanchal mountain to the temple in one night only then she would marry him. Naraka accepted the condition of the goddess.

When the goddess felt that Naraka would complete this task, she did a trick. Devi cocked a crow and asked him to give voice before dawn. When Narakasura felt that he had lost the condition imposed by the goddess, he was sad but when he came to know that he had been tricked, he ran to kill the chicken and gave it to him. The place where the chicken was sacrificed is known as Kukurakata. After that, Lord Vishnu killed Narakasura asura with the illusion of Mother Bhagwati.

After Narakasura's death, his son Bhagadatta became the king of Kamarupa. After the disappearance of Bhagadatta's dynasty, the Kamarupa kingdom was divided into small parts and the feudal king began to rule over Kamarupa. After the inferior works of Narakasura and the curse of the unique monk, the goddess was dissuaded and the iconic Kamakhya temple was destroyed by Kamadeva.
